Hymn of the Day
O tender Child, you veil in flesh the splendor of your might; a servant's garb now wraps the one who clothed the sky with light, who clothed the sky with light. ("Let All Together Praise Our God" - Text:Nikolaus Herman, 1480-1561; tr. hymnal version)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Luke 5.1-26-Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men, When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.
Ezekiel 48-...and the name of the city from that day shall be, "The LORD is there."
Isaiah 66-...all mankind will come to bow down before Me...
John 8.12-19-I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
I am the Light. I am the Center. Do not fear, but leave your life behind and follow me. You will walk with me out of darkness and into Light.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
Sometimes at work, I can't seem to accomplish a thing.
I work and work and work, without results.
Then, You are present.
You teach me about a different kind of result.
You make it all look so simple.
Give life away to gain life.
Cast my nets again and fish will be caught.
You veil the splendor of Your might in flesh.
You teach me to go to the other side of the boat.
To cast my focus away from myself and towards others.
This is where Love is found.
With others as the point of my love.
With You as the center of my love.
When I leave it all behind and follow You, I find Love.
You light the path out of darkness into Your Light.
Yet you come to me clothed as I am clothed.
You look just like me but are perfect in nature.
You are a man and at the same time my God.
You are my Savior and Teacher, my Guide and Life.
You make complete the name of the city, "The Lord is There."
Your presence is what I follow.
Your path, I walk with You.
I bow at Your feet and seek to do Your will.
I'm ready to leave it all behind and follow You.
For now I see, it's not about what I accomplish through "My" efforts.
But what You accomplish in me.
--- --- ---
Prayer of the Day
Lord, I cast my nets on the side You choose. It's not about me. It's all about You. Lead, guide, teach and show me Your way. I leave it all to follow You. ---Amen

December 30th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
Peace came to earth at last that chosen night when angels clove the sky with song and light and God embodied love and sheathed his might--Who could but gasp: Immanuel! Who could but sing: Immanuel! ("Peace Came to Earth" - Text:Jaroslav J. Vajda, b 1919)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Luke 4.31-44-And standing over her, He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she immediately got up and waited on them.
Ezekiel 46-47-...and it was a river that I could not ford, for the water had risen, enough water to swim in, a river that could not be forded.
Isaiah 65-It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.
Matthew 2.13-23-A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; and she refused to be comforted, because they were no more.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
I bring My presence and peace into your world of death and illness. I AM among you in Word, in Flesh, in Life. I bring peace and healing and life. I answer before you call and I hear before you speak. Now have faith and trust in Me.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
Here in my world of sin, death, illness and war, I learn.
I learn that I am drowning in it all by myself.
I learn that I cannot save myself.
Even when I think I have the answer; I find out that it just doesn't quite get it done.
When I think I can handle it on my own; I begin to drown.
Here in my world of sin, death, illness and war, I learn.
Then You decide to be with me in this miserable place.
You take the risk and come to me in flesh and blood.
You make Your presence known and bring peace and healing and life.
You bring to life a Love that is beyond comprehension.
You bring Light into darkness and show Your presence.
Then You decide to be with me in this miserable place.
You show a different way.
You recreate life out of death.
You bring health to illness.
You forgive the sinful and redeem the lost.
You change this world forever and make creation new again.
You show a different way.
I drown to my selfish life and am brought out of the water refreshed and renewed.
You drown me in the waters of Your life giving water.
Daily You wash me clean from sin.
You wash me and prepare me for service in Your newly created Kingdom.
Redeemed, forgiven and renewed; I gladly run and jump to serve and follow You.
I drown to my selfish life and am brought out of the water refreshed and renewed.
You die for the children and wipe away all tears.
When we mourn for our children and feel lost in it all.
You die on a cross and show us a greater Love.
You show a love that transcends death and brings Life.
You replace mourning with an eternal joy.
You die for the children and wipe away all tears.
Peace and Life and Light came to earth at last on that chosen night.
You came as a child, small and weak.
You died as a King mighty and strong.
You rose victorious to bring Life from death.
You live forever in the hearts of Your chosen.
Peace and Life and Light came to earth at last on that chosen night.
You are forever my Savior, my Lord, my King.
You are my center, my priority, my love.
You are my God and my One and only.
I praise you eternally, Father, Redeemer and Spirit.
You are glorious above and within and around.
You are forever my Savior, my Lord, my King.
--- --- ---
Prayer of the Day
I'm so glad that You came to this earth. I'm so glad that you came to me. Inhabit my being, within, around, above, behind, and in front of. Wrap Your Spirit throughout me. May I drown in the waters of my baptism to sin this day. May I emerge from those waters, new and refreshed and sent into Your Kingdom to serve in faithful love. I'm ready, Lord, send me this day! ---Amen

December 28th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
O holy child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray; cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell; oh, come to us, abide with us, our Lord Immanuel! ("O Little Town of Bethlehem" - Text:Phillips Brooks, 1835-1893)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Luke 3.21-38-When He began His ministry, Jesus Himself was about thirty years of age...
Ezekiel 42-43-Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell among the sons of Israel forever.
Isaiah 63-So He became their Savior. In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them; in His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, and He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.
Matthew 18.1-14-So it is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones perish.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
I AM all about Life. I come to bring Life. I come to rescue you from death. I will dwell with you and bring you Life out of death.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
I remember how children were killed in an attempt to kill You.
I think of how cruel and heartless we can be.
I think of war and disease and death and dying and wonder why it has to be.
I ponder accidents and disaster that have occurred in my lifetime and in the past.
Why all this death and dying?
Why all this amid a time when we think of the birth of a Savior?
Then I hear the music.
I hear how You risked all and came down to us.
How You come to cast out sin and enter in.
You enter my world to save me from this death I bring upon myself.
You descend to a place that You didn't need to descend to because You love me.
You come to the door of my heart and invite me out with You into this world.
Just as You began Your ministry, I go out that door with You and You show me my ministry.
We go out into this world of death, sin, accidents, disasters and show people Your Love.
We go out compassionate to how it all is and reach out and walk with and come to act in care.
In all the affliction, You become the Savior.
In all the pain, You teach me to reach out and to give my life to those who can do me no favor.
In death, we walk along and You create Life.
In the journey I begin to see...
In the journey outside my door I begin to realize...
In the journey with You, I begin to learn...
It is not Your will that these little ones should perish.
It is not Your will that we suffer.
It is Your will that we live Life in You.
It is Your will that we be saved!
Thanks be to God!
--- --- ---
Prayer of the Day
Lord, on this day when we think of the death of children, I ask You to be with those who live with death. Who mourn for their children who have died. I know You care and love the children. But today, I ask You to care and love for those who mourn the death of a child. Bring hope, and love, and memories sweet. Bring life out of death. Bring action out of mourning. Bring justice and peace to this world. Act through and in each of us that we may learn Your Love and how to pass Your Love onto and into each other. ---Amen

December 27th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
Infant holy, infant lowly, for his bed a cattle stall; oxen lowing, little knowing Christ the child is Lord of all. Swiftly winging, angels singing, bells are ringing, tidings bringing: Christ the child is Lord of all! Christ the child is Lord of all! ("Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" - Text:Polish carol; rt. Edith M.G. Reed, 1885-1933, alt.)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Luke 3.1-20-John answered and said to them all, "As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Ezekiel 40-41-He measured its length, twenty cubits, and the width, twenty cubits, before the nave; and he said to me, "This is the most holy place."
Isaiah 62-Go through, go through the gates, clear the way for the people; build up, build up the highway, remove the stones, lift up a standard over the peoples.
1 John 5.1-12-Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
Small and large, weak and strong. I come small and weak but am large and strong. I come to enter your heart small and weak. I grow to be large and strong. Believe that I have come to Your temple. Believe and you will take part in the large and strong Kingdom of God. I will use you.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
I don't underestimate the greatness of Your coming.
Even though you come as a lowly Child, I know of Your greatness.
You save the world from sin and death.
You come in life to bring Life to all.
Small and weak yet large and strong.
You baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire.
You put it all into action.
You set up Your Kingdom to be eternal.
Powerful, yet in a different way.
Powerful in Your way.
Send me to remove the stones and build for You.
Allow me to take the measurements and follow Your plan.
Teach me how to live in Your New Kingdom of Love and Life.
I don't underestimate the greatness of Your coming.

The voices are sweet to my ear.
I feel Your nearness as You clothe me in salvation.
I know that Christ has been born in my soul.
You give me growth in faith and hope.

Sometimes life is a mixed bag. There is the joy of your birth. There is the happiness of Your coming into my heart. And there is the pain and death and suffering and persecution of those that take a stand for You. I gladly take that stand this day...in joy...in pain... in love. I know that You have been born in my soul and that can never be taken away. Thanks be to God! ---Amen

I know that You have been born in my soul and that can never be taken away. Thanks be to God! ---Amen

December 25th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymns of the Day
Ah, dearest Jesus, holy child, prepare a bed, soft, undefiled, a quiet chamber in my heart, that you and I may never part. ("From Heaven Above" - Text:Martin Luther, 1483-1546; tr. Lutheran Book of Worship)
Hail the heaven born Prince of peace! hail the Sun of righteousness! Light and life to all he brings, risen with healing in his wings. Mild he lays his glory by, born that we no more may die, born to raise each child of earth, born to give us second birth. Hark! The herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn king!" ("Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" - Text:Charles Wesley, 1707-1788, alt.)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Luke 2.1-20-But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Ezekiel 37-Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones, "Behold, I will cause breath to enter you that you may come to life."

God's Word of the Day
I AM here. I have always been here. Here with you and in your heart. Born this day to give you second birth. Breathe in My Spirit, see My Light and live anew this day. I AM here, born to you. Now live! Live and give your life to Me and to your neighbor in need. That's real life. Life you give away in active Love.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
You are gloriously here today!
Thanks be to God! You are here!
Here in the center of my heart.
Here to take my place.
Here to breath second life into my heart.
I replace myself with Your Life in my heart.
You gave Your Life for my life.
In joyous response, I give my life to You.
You brought Light and Life this day to all people.
You bring Joy and Peace today.
You mildly lay salvation on all people.
You were born this day, so that we no more may die.
Born to give us second birth.
Through your birth, we are born anew.
Glory to You my Lord, my Savior, my Child, my Love, my Life.
In joyous response, I give my life to You.
How I was so afraid at first.
I was afraid to give my life.
I was afraid to lose control.
But You showed me a different way.
You showed me a radical way to live.
You showed good news of great joy in giving Life.
You showed me a Savior, born this day, that I run to see!
In joyous response, I give my life to You.
Through a Child You brought these dead bones to life.
Through a Child You cast sin and death away from me.
In my new birth, You cast a new breath into me.
In this new birth, You brought these dead sinful bones to life.
And today in new birth, I arise and shine to see the New Light of Life!
In new birth, I hear the angels proclaim the glory of God made flesh.
In new birth, in new life, in new love, I run, I shout, I gladly sing, and...
In joyous response, I give my life to You.
--- --- ---
Prayer of the Day
Lord Jesus, my Child, my Savior, my Lord, my King, You have been born in my heart this day. You brought me a new and wonderfully refreshing breath. You bring these dead, sinful bones to life in You. I give my life to You. Use me this day and all days to give my life to those You send to me, those for whom I can gain no favor, those for whom You would have me give my life to for no advantage of my own. Use my life this day. I give it away to You to give away to whomever You choose. Lord Jesus, my Child, I love You! I give my life to You. I give You thanks for the Your Life given to me. You are my Child, my Savior, my Lord, my King, my center of being. Thanks be to God for this marvelous second birth! ---Amen

December 24th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her king; let every heart prepare him room and heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven and heaven and nature sing. ("Joy to the World" - Text: Isaac Watts, 1674-1748)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Luke 1.57-80-And you child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the LORD to prepare His ways; to give to His people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the Sunrise from on high will visit us, to shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Ezekiel 35-36-Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe my ordinances.
Isaiah 59-Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short that it cannot save; nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear.
Luke 1-67-80-And the child continued to grow and to become strong in spirit...
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
A child is born this day. No, not the Child, Jesus...but you; My chosen child. You are born this day with a new heart. Not that stone heart of sin, but a new heart of loving compassion. Now go out and shout about the Child about to be born to all the world that will save all from sin. My child, I want you to proclaim the birth of My Child.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
John was born to proclaim the coming of Jesus.
I was born to proclaim the coming of Jesus.
John told the people to turn from sin and repent.
I turn from sin and repent.
John struggled in the desert and sought Your Voice.
I struggle in the desert and listen to Your Voice.
You call John to proclaim Your message.
You call me to shout "Joy to the world, the Lord has come!"
As Jesus comes into this world...
As Jesus is soon to be born...
Let my heart be prepared.
Let my confession be heard.
Let my upper room be clean and ready.
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.
Feed me compassion, love and the fire to act.
Fill me with Your Love and Your Child.
I welcome the Child into my life.
I welcome the King into my upper room.
I hunger for the bread and wine and the body and blood.
I look towards the "House of Bread" and see the Child.
I kneel in wonder at the base of the manger while at the base of the cross.
I am overwhelmed by the Love contained within and upon.
I know of my God who reaches His hand way down to lift me up.
I go in joy to shout Your saving grace to all the world.
Fill my heart with Your Spirit.
Fill my heart with Your Child.
Fill my heart with the joy and hope.
Bring me to the place that where my fear meets hope.
Show me how hope overcomes fear.
Send me with Your Word in my heart.
Send me in joy to proclaim Your Grace to all the world.
Send me to proclaim the birth of a Child into the hearts of His children.
--- --- ---
Prayer of the Day
Here I am, Your child. I give You thanks for Your Child. I give You thanks for Jesus. Be born into my heart this day. Use me to proclaim Your glorious coming. Use me to act out Your Love. Come in power into the hearts of all Your children. Come, Lord Jesus, come! ---Amen

December 23rd Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
The King shall come when morning dawns and light and beauty brings. Hail, Christ the Lord! Your people pray: come quickly, King of kings. ("The King Shall Come" - Text:John Brownlie, 1859-1925)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Luke 1.26-56-Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.
Ezekiel 34-Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out.
Isaiah 58-...and if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness and your gloom will become like midday.
Matthew 1.18-25-Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
Look at what I have done in the past. I know how fearful life can be. Do not be afraid. I love you and seek you out. I will give you what you need to act in love for Me. I call you, gift you and send you out to act. Do not be afraid. I love you.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
Sometimes You seem to do the strangest things!
You choose the most unlikely people to act for You.
You take the people that seem to be in the worst position possible and use them to do Your will.
You take a situation, that to the world looks shameful, and send Your Son to save us.
You take some people that seem to be in disgrace, and give them Your Son.
You tell them not to be afraid about it all.
Well, they were scared to death!
You beat all!
A New Life begins with the morning.
A Light begins to shine in the darkness.
Beauty bursts forth in Light and creation.
A New Life takes shape.
You not only give Yourself, You change those that You give Yourself too.
A New Life begins in the life of Jesus, and a New Life begins in the heart of Your people.
You search us out and graciously give New Life.
You beat all!
You make the lowly and the weak strong and fearless.
You cause us to want to work for You.
Your Love makes me want to run and jump and shout and play for You.
You create and give a New Life to all of us through Jesus.
What a Gift!
What a Life!
What a Love!
You beat all!
Sometimes You seem to do the strangest things!
You choose the most unlikely people to act for You.
You take the people that seem to be in the worst position possible and use them to do You will.
You take a situation that to the world looks shameful, and send Your Son...
You take some people that seem to be in disgrace, and give them Your Son.
Wait a minute! That's me!
You choose to use me!
You come to me!
Thanks be to God!
Prayer of the Day
You are amazing! You beat all! Thanks for New Life! Thanks for Light that shines in the darkness! Thanks for Jesus! Thanks! ---Amen

December 22nd Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
Come, Lord, our Savior, Jesus Christ; our hearts are open wide in trust. Oh, show us now your lovely grace, upon our sorrows shine your face, and let your Holy Spirit guide our journey in your grace so wide. We praise your holy name, form age to age the same! ("Fling Wide the Door" - Text:Georg Weissel, 1590-1635; tr. Gracia Grindal, b. 1943)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Luke 1.1-25-And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense.
Ezekiel 33-So when it comes to pass--as surely it will--then they will know that a prophet has been in their midst.
Isaiah 57-And it will be said, "Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstacle out of the way of My people."
Psalm 80.1-7, 17-19-O God of hosts, restore us and cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
I have prepared for My coming to you. Now, you prepare for My coming to you. I remove all the obstacles...accept Me and live in Me. Prepare yourself for My coming; it will be beyond anything you could ever imagine.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
Messengers and angels and Word from Scripture...
You send all to give me a clue.
You make it all so obvious to me.
You are in my face with all the evidence.
Yet I still am slow to understand.
I'm slow to figure it all out.
Even when all the facts are right in front of my face.
I'm so slow.
You make Your face shine on me and warm me.
Then there seems to be this point of awakening.
Sometimes it's just a little thing that triggers it.
I have that Aha! moment and I know of Your presence.
I hear Your voice.
I see Your Word clearly.
I emerge from my speechless state of being.
I shout to all the world with joy and thanksgiving.
I finally get it.
I receive You into my life.
I live for You and love You ever so deeply.
My heart bursts wide open and trust builds to such a deep level.
Come, Lord Jesus, come.
Your glory overwhelms me in excitement and joy.
And all this with only a peek at Your presence.
What joy when You are here!
I can only imagine!
I can only hope!
I can only trust!
I can surely love!
Come, Lord Jesus, come!

Prayer of the Day

December 20th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
O come, O Dayspring, come and cheer; O Sun of justice, now draw near disperse the gloomy clouds of night, and death's dark shadow put to flight. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to you, O Israel. ("O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" - Text: Psalteriolum Cantionum Catholicarum, Koln, 1710; tr. composite)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Colossians 2.20-3.17-So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Ezekiel 29-30-Thus says the Lord GOD, "I will also destroy the idols..."
Isaiah 55-Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters...
Galatians 3.23-29-Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
You are guilty of sin. Only I can disperse your gloom of sin. I come to you and save you. My Law has convicted you. Now turn and repent.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
I'm guilty and I know it.
Your Law has shown me my sin.
You Law leads me to smell the stench of my sin.
I turn to You, and humbly repent.
I need You to save me from myself, from sin, from the devil and from death.
I need You.
Draw near, Lord Jesus.
Send Your Spirit to disperse the cloud of sin from me.
Replace my cloud with Your presence in Your cloud.
Put my selfish shadow to flight.
Come Emmanuel, come.
I need You.
You forgive me.
Send me to forgive others.
Fill me with compassion and kindness.
Make me gentle and patient.
Humbly let me bear with others.
I need You.
Destroy all the idols in my life.
Clothe me in Your Love that I may be with others.
I come to Your waters and seek nourishment through You.
You are my Savior and Lord.
I come to You and You fill me with faith.
I need You.
Come Emmanuel, come.
Be present with and in me.
You are my first Light.
You are my last Light.
You are all I need.
I need You.

December 19th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
"Comfort, comfort now my people, tell of peace!" So says our God. Comfort those who sit in darkness mourning under sorrow's load. To God's people now proclaim that God's pardon waits for them! Tell them that their war is over; God will reign in peace forever. ("Comfort, Comfort Now My People" - Text: Johann G. Olearius, 1635-1711; tr. Catherine Winkworth, 1827-1878, alt.)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Colossians 1.24-2.19-...and in Him you have been made complete...
Ezekiel 27-28-...yet you are a man and not God...
Isaiah 54-Enlarge the place of your tent...
Matthew 8.14-17, 28-34-He touched her hand, and the fever left her...
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
Only I can heal you. Make ready, prepare and enlarge your heart, for I am coming soon. I will make you complete. I am the God of comfort and peace.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
I am at war over myself.
I fail and try to be my own god.
You tell me of Your coming.
You teach me to prepare.
You tell me to enlarge the place of my tent.
Make me a temple for You.
Make my heart a place to worship You.
Enlarge the place of my tent for Your presence.
For I am a man and not god.
Only You are God.
Only through You am I made complete.
Come and touch me and heal me from sin.
Heal me from disease and war and death.
Through the touch of Jesus, heal me in Your special way.
End this war and reign in peace forever.
Come, Lord Jesus, come!

December 18th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
There's a voice in the wilderness crying, a call from the ways untrod: Prepare in the desert a highway, a highway for our God! The valleys shall be exalted, the lofty hills brought low; make straight all the crooked places where God, our God, may go! ("There's a Voice in the Wilderness" - Text:James Lewis Milligan, 1876-1961, alt.)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Colossians 1.1-23-For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him.
Ezekiel 25-26-Hear the word of the Lord GOD!
Isaiah 53-But the LORD was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief; if He would render Himself as a guilt offering, H will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.
Ezekiel 47.1-12-By the river on its bank, on one side and on the other, will grow all kinds of trees for food, Their leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail. They will bear every month because their water flows for the sanctuary, and their fruit will be for good and their leaves for healing.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
Listen to the prophet. Prepare the way for Me. I AM coming to you. Coming to make you bear the fruit of healing. Coming to make you my own. Listen to the prophet. Prepare the way for Me.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
You tell me that You are coming to my place today.
You tell me that You are coming into my heart.
You tell me that I must be ready.
There is so much fun in the preparation of Your coming.
I busy myself in making my place clean and acceptable.
I look forward in anticipation of Your coming.
I pick up the place and sweep it clean.
Then You come. You come into my heart.
But You don't come into my house.
Instead, You invite me out to play in Your Kingdom.
I see that it's not about my place and how I have prepared it.
I see that it's about how You will prepare me.
I see that it's about Your place and my role in taking care of Your place.
So we go out together to care for Your place, Your Kingdom.
We work together in Your place, Your Church.
We work together caring for Your creation, Your world, Your people.
And my joy is made complete in the work.
My joy is made complete in working with and for You.
My joy is made complete in You being with me.
You paid a great price for me.
You gave Your life.
Now I gladly give my life to you.
What a joy to give it back to you.
What a joy to work, sweat and suffer for You.
What a joy You give when You came to my house, to my heart and we left to go into Your Kingdom.
What a joy You are to me.
You tell me that You are coming to my place today.
Thanks be to God!
Come, Lord Jesus, come!
--- --- ---
Prayer of the Day

God's Word of the Day
Look at the evidence; the blind see and the deaf hear, people are healed and there is a peace that surpasses the comprehension of the peace you know on earth. Look at the evidence and the presence of Me and know that I am with you to save you and give you life. Do you see the evidence?

You come to me humble yet powerful.
You come to me with peace that I can't understand.

December 15th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
Yet I believe beyond believing that life can spring from death, that growth can flower from our grieving, that we can catch our breath and turn transfixed by faith. ("Each Winter As the Year Grows Older" - Text: William Gay, b. 1920, alt.)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Philippians 2.12-30-Do all things without grumbling or disputing...
Ezekiel 21-22-You have despised My holy things and profaned My sabbaths.
Isaiah 50-Who is among you that fears the LORD, that obeys the voice of His servant, that walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.
Psalm 146.5-10-How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God...
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
Only I can spring life from death. I do this through the death of Jesus. Out of Jesus death to your sin comes life. Die to your sin and live in Me.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
Whew! There are times that I can really stink this place up!
There are times that I run from You in to opposite direction.
There are times that I lose sight of You and think I can straighten this mess out on my own.
Then it all falls apart.
My life caves in.
I am lost and without direction.
It's funny how, even in these times, I find You are with me.
When I think I'm the furthest from You, I find You right by my side.
When I'm facing the opposite direction; You tap me on my shoulder and show Your presence.
In these times, You reach out with loving arms.
You touch me and teach me.
You gently guide me back to where I should be.
When I'm lost and in death, You come to me and rescue me.
You give Your life for me.
You love me and heal me and forgive me and call me Your own.
You just beat all!
I can't figure out why You even care about me.
But You do! Why?
I'm sure glad though.
I'm glad that You are my Friend and Savior.
I'm glad that You love me.
My Friend, I love You!
No other emotion would ever do.
Without a doubt, I love You!
I give my life to You.
You showed me how to die to give life.
I give my life to You.
Now, because of You, my grumbling and arguing, has turned into joy and dancing.
I celebrate a Love and Hope beyond imagination.
I live a life of Love in You!
Hope springs to life from You.
Love takes flesh through You.
Love lives through You!
Thanks, My Friend!
Thanks, My Savior!
Thanks, My God!
Prayer of the Day
Jesus, You sure have a way about Yourself. You have a way that turns death into life. That turns despair into joy. That turns me around to You. Thanks! ---Amen

Psalm of the Day
Lord, I wait. I wait for You to come.
I look to You for salvation.
I am humble in the waiting.
You come to me in like form as myself.
You put on my clothes.
You walk my life.
You know the sin I have.
You know the pain I suffer.
You know how it is to be me.
You were obedient to the point of death.
You understand what it is to be human.
You love so deeply that You give Life for life.
You stretch out Your mighty hand of salvation.
You come to me and save me.
You are my Mighty King and Savior.
Now all flesh knows what act You have taken.
All flesh can see Your Grace.
You reveal Yourself in Love for all to see.
Glory to the Father!
Glory to the Son!
Glory to the Spirit!
Lord, I wait.
And You come.
Thanks be to God!

December 13th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
My child as prophet of the Lord you will prepare the way, to tell God's people they are saved from sin's eternal sway. Then shall God's mercy from on high shine forth and never cease to drive away the gloom of death and lead us into peace. ("Blessed Be the God of Israel" -Text:Carl P. Daw Jr., b. 1944, based on Luke 1.68-79)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Philippians 1.12-30-For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Ezekiel 19-As for you, take up a lamentation...
Isaiah 48-Listen to Me, O Jacob, even Israel whom I called; I am He, I am the first, I am also the last.
2 Peter 3.1-10-The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
Give Your life to me. It's mine after all anyway. But I want you to give it back to me. Then, you will really begin to live. Trust in My Word. Trust in Me.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
You gave me life.
For some reason, You gave me life.
You placed me here.
I have spoiled this life You gave to me with sin.
I have not done as You expected for me to do.
Forgive me for what I have done with this life You gave to me.
I give my life back to You.
You take my life and change me.
You give me Life through Your Life given.
Life is a mystery to me.
Life is a curiosity.
It's hard to understand purpose.
But, I stop and listen to Your Voice.
I see what You have done.
I see how You gave Your Life to me.
I give thanks for a reformed life.
I give thanks for a new beginning.
I give thanks for You and Your Love.
Use my life.
Use my body.
Use my spirit.
I give my life to You.
I revel in joy for You.
I go out to serve You.
You are my eternal God, first, last, always.
You are my Savior and King.
You are...the great I AM.
--- --- ---

December 11th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer
Hymn of the Day
Angels announce with shouts of mirth him who brings new life to earth. Set every peak and valley humming with the word, the Lord is coming. People, look east, and sing today --- Love, the Lord, is on the way. ("People, Look East"-Text:Eleanor Farjeon, 1881-1965)
--- --- ---
Readings of the Day
Ephesians 6-Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor Your Father and Mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Ezekiel 17-I will also take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar and set it out; I will pluck from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain. On the high mountain of Israel I will plant it, that it may bring forth boughs and bear fruit and become a stately cedar. And birds of every kind will nest under it; they will nest in the shade of its branches.
Isaiah 46-I bring near My righteousness, it is not far off; and My salvation will not delay.
Isaiah 41.14-20-I will open rivers on the bare heights and springs in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry land fountains of water.
--- --- ---
God's Word of the Day
I give you Love. I give you Love in Christ Jesus. I give you Life in Christ Jesus. I give you Jesus.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
I see a tree on a mountain.
I see a cross on a hill.
I see Life on that tree.
I see Love on that cross.
I see that tree producing fruit.
I see people loving You and each other.
I see Jesus on that cross.
I see people gathering in awe at the foot of that cross.
I see a tree on a mountain.
I see a Church gathered together under the cross.
I see a Savior reigning in all glory.
I see a People giving their lives to that Life.
I see a Church working in love together because of that Love.
I see water flowing from the Tree on the Mountain.
I see salvation on that cross.
I see the wilderness of our sin replenished with a wealth of water.
I see forgiveness flow from that cross.
I see love and respect at the base of that tree.
I see honor and glory on that cross.
I see discipline and love radiate from that tree.
I see a tree on a mountain.
I see a cross on a hill.
I see new life on earth.
I see Love.
I see Life.
I see Jesus.
Now I draw near to that tree, to that cross, and bow in love and respect.

Psalm of the Day
Here I am, Lord, stumbling in the darkness of my sin.
Making idols for myself to worship while in the darkness of my sin.
You show me the error and sinfulness of my way.
You make plain the path I am to follow.
Now, I turn to You, Lord, and seek forgiveness.
I repent of my sin before You and seek Your reconciliation.
You wipe out my transgressions as a thick cloud.
You clear away the cloud of my sin so that I behold Your Light.
I see the Light of the Child in the manger.
I see the active Love in Your Son Jesus.
I see the pain, death and suffering You endured to wipe out my sin.
You permit me to return to You, for You have redeemed me.
Having seen Your Love in Jesus, I run to be by Your side.
We run towards each other like children at play.
You are like incense in my nostrils, a pleasant aroma.
You are a fragrance drawing me ever closer to Your Way.
I imitate You as a child mocks their parents.
As Your child and friend I walk in love and give myself to You.
Yes! I hear that voice.

I wait in patience to see Your face.
I know for certain You will knock on my door.
And we will play in Your Kingdom forever.
Christ is near! Christ is near!

God's Word of the Day
I have come in love for all people. Be kind to one another. Care about each other. Show love to one another. See, how I come and perform My Word of Love in your midst. I love you; now you, love one another.
--- --- ---
Psalm of the Day
Lord, You created the stars above and the grass below.
You have done marvelous things with Your creation.
I stand in awe of Your creative power.
Your glory and power is beyond my imagination.
Your power is glorious to behold.
I look and You are everywhere.
I see You in the mountains.
I see You through the microscope.
I see You in the face of the homeless.
I see You in the caring heart of the serving.
I see Your face in Your Son, Jesus, sent to save us.
Your face in Jesus, Your Word made flesh.
Not only do You proclaim covenants; You live those covenants.
What You speak in Word comes into being.
You spoke Love and sent Love to redeem us.

O God, whose heart compassionate bears every human pain, redeem this violent, wounding world till gentleness shall reign. O God of mercy , hear our prayer: bring peace to earth again! ("Bring Peace to Earth Again" - Text: Herman G. Stuempfle Jr., b. 1923)

God's Word of the Day
Sure, life can and will be painful. You will have sorrow and war and sin. But I came to save you. I came to bring peace. I rule forever. This world is not eternity. I AM eternity. Have faith. Have hope. Wait, yet serve Me in My Kingdom; now and in eternity.

Psalm of the Day
You came and freed me from sin.
You came and saved me from selfishness.
You came and showed me a better way.
You came to bring peace.
You came to walk side by side with me in life.
You came in the midst of war.
You came in the midst of sin.
You came.
You walked.
You ate.
You suffered.
You died.
You rose again.
You live.
You ascended.
You came.
You came.
You came.
You are here!
Thanks be to God!
