October 9th - Let's Play!

Theme of the Day
Arrogance

Readings of the Day
Revelation 9-And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their fornication or their thefts.
Nehemiah 12-Then I brought the leaders of Judah up onto the wall, and appointed two great companies that gave thanks and went in procession.
Psalm 104.1-23-People go out to their work and to the labor until the evening.
1 Peter 5:1-5, 12-14-Do not lord it over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock.

God's Word of the Day
Look at Jesus' life. Be humble, serve those who work for you and those you work for. Put arrogance aside and meet in the center at My Temple.

Story of the Day
Both sides were at odds with one another. Someone had to win the fight. So the battle began. The battle raged on until one side felt as if they had proven their dominance over the other. But the wounds lived on in the hearts of both sides. The dominant side was insulted that they were challenged. The other side was insulted by arrogance. Over time it became obvious that this was not a solution. The sides were never reconciled.

An equal conflict arose by two other countries. But this time a mediator chose to have each side walk towards a common goal. They took opposite approaches to their common goal of reconciliation and met in the center. In the center was the goal of harmony and peace. Each took an opposite direction to the same purpose. When meeting in the middle at that common goal, stories of the journey could be shared. Each party could learn from the other. Each could sing with one voice upon arrival and unity in the middle. Now both were united and the journeys were completed. Both parties became one.

Prayer of the Day
Lord, open my eyes to the goal in common. Open my eyes to the journeys of myself and the journeys of others. Keep arrogance away but unite me in the common joy of Your presence in the Temple. Lead me in the approach and unite us as one in You, our Lord and Savior. ---Amen
