I Saw You Last Week - Mark 16:1-8 - The Resurrection of Our Lord

Mark 16:1-8 ESV

16 When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

Yes, another week of study. Study in Holy Week. Prayer with God and to God. Thanks, given. This week I have chosen something a bit different. Upon my reflection on the Word, I offer a reflective poem…

I Saw You Last Week

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

 Lord, I Saw You

And Then, I Saw Me

I Saw You… And I Saw Me

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Followed You Last Week

I Saw You Ride into Jerusalem

And Then, I Saw Me

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Placed Cloaks on the Donkey

I Strew Palm Branches in the Street

I Shouted Hosanna!

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Was There for the Plot to Kill You

I Wanted Myself, More Than You

I Saw a Side of Me to Forget

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw a Woman Pour Ointment on Your Head

I Argued, What a Waste!

I Thought Better of Money Than Your Glory

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Agreed to Betray You For a Few Coins

I Promised to Turn You Over

For a Few Coins

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You Fed Me Bread and Wine

I Took It From You

I Was Confused

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You Kneeled Before Me

You Washed My Feet

I Was Appalled!

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You, Told Me I Would Betray You

I Knew Better of Myself

I Told You No!

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Followed You to the Garden

I Watched You Pray

I Fell Asleep

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Followed You Last Week

I Saw You Turned Over

 I Ran Away

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw You Before the Council

I Hid in the Dark

That Was Me

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Gathered by the Fire

I Denied You Three Times

 I Claimed Ignorance

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw You Standing Before Pilate

I Said Nothing

I Was Silent

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw You Handed Over for Crucifixion

I Shouted, Crucify!

 I Joined the Angry Crowd

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw You Mocked

I Saw You Dressed in a Phony Robe and a Crown of Thorns

I Made Fun of You

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw a Man Carry Your Cross

I Watched

I Did Nothing

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw You Tied and Nailed

I Stayed at a Distance

I Was Far Removed from Your Torture

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw the Darkness

I Heard Your Cry to God

 But Waited to See

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw You Offered a Drink

I Saw You Refuse

 I Didn’t Help

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Heard What You Said

I Heard Words of Forgiveness

 I Waited for Something More

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw Your Side Pierced

I Saw Water and Blood

I Had No Idea

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw Your Body Dropped to the Ground

I Saw Them Take You Away

I Ran and Hid

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw You Laid in the Tomb

I Saw You Carefully Wrapped in Linen

I Took No Part in This Act of Love

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Watched as the Women Came to Anoint Your Dead Body

I Saw the Stone Rolled Away

I Refused to Believe

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Heard a Young Man at Your Tomb

I Heard You Had Been Raised

I Fled Your Tomb in Terror and Amazement

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You Did All This for Me

I Saw the Love of God

I Saw God in Flesh

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw the King

I Saw the Banquet

I Saw Forgiveness

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw the Body and Blood

I Saw the Bread and Wine

I Saw the Gift

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw the Servant

I Saw the Example

I Saw How to Live for God and the Other

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw Darkness Change to Light

I Saw Sin Flee

I Saw Death Defeated

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Thought I Was Distant

I Thought I Was Far Away

But You Were Near to Me

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw My Tomb Open

I Saw Light Shine In

I Heard Your Voice

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

It Was My Tomb

You Rolled the Stone Away

You Opened the Door

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You Called me Out

 Come Out to Play

I Saw Your Light All Around

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You Set Sin at my Back

You Took Care of it All

I Fell into Your Arms

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You Were Surrounded by The Saints

You Held Out Your Hand

I Didn’t Drown

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You Pulled Me Up

You Calmed the Stormy Waters

You Made Me Your Own

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You Called me Out of Darkness

You Placed Me in Your Light

You Drew Me In

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

You Became All Light

You Ran Out in Front

I Run in Joy and Laughter After You

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw You Come to Me

I Saw Your Love for Me

I Believe!

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw My Sin

I Heard Your Forgiveness

I Believe!

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw Grace

I Saw the Face of God

I Believe!

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

 Lord, I Saw You

And then, I Saw Me

I Saw You… And I Saw Me

Lord Jesus, I Saw You Last Week

I Saw You

You Saw Me

And You Saved Me

May your Easter celebration sparkle with the Light of Christ. Follow Him and run after him. Laugh a Holy Laugh of joy and praise of all that Jesus has done for you… today… tomorrow… and forever.

I leave you with this wonderful song of joy that pulled me in this week.

 Marvelous Light
