August 27th - Reflection

1 Peter 4:7-11 (NRSV)
Be hospitable to one another

The end of all things is near; therefore be serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers. Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining. Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

Reflection
I need to work on the complaining part of this passage. It is so easy for me to fall into complaining, being negative and then lead to talking people down. That is a hard one for me and many sins are committed in this arena.

What wonderful advice though to use the gifts God has given. Turn from the complaining and use the gifts and skill God gives to the glory of God. Turn that focus away from the complaining to a love and appreciation of the gifts and skills. And even better yet would be to reflect those gifts in a work of love to your neighbor to bring glory to God.

Seems like this could break the complaining cycle and release a love cycle of fun and action. Hmmmm.... Thanks be to God!

Prayer
Lord, help me to honor my neighbor, speak well of them, and explain their actions in the kindest ways. Lead me in breaking the complaining cycle and hopping on to the love cycle of fun and action to your glory. --- Amen
