December 3rd - Reflection

Psalm 85:1-2, 8-13 (NRSV)
Righteousness and peace
Lord, you were favorable to your land;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
You forgave the iniquity of your people;
you pardoned all their sin.
Selah ...

Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people,
to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts.
Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land.

Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet;
righteousness and peace will kiss each other.
Faithfulness will spring up from the ground,
and righteousness will look down from the sky.
The Lord will give what is good,
and our land will yield its increase.
Righteousness will go before him,
and will make a path for his steps.

Reflection
It sounds more like the reformation of the Garden of Eden. Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet. We won't feel the need to know the mind of God but will trust God's guidance and steadfast love to lead us and guide us.

Righteousness and peace will kiss. There will be harmony of all that there is about God with man. Sin will be no more. No more war or disease or death. God is all about the fullness of life and vitality and harmony in our lives together and with God.

And God will look down and say... "It is good!" ... and we will respond, "It is really Good!" Thanks be to God!

Prayer
Lord, I look to that day when we will slowly approach that cross, hand-in-hand, with those we love and kneel before you. All around us will be multitudes of your people present and past and some yet to come gathering around that spot that you saved us and brought forth new life out of our sinfulness. Perfect life out of our failures and from our knees we slowly raise our heads and see that awesome Light of your glory shining ever brightly in the face of Jesus. All creation will be new, steadfast love and faithfulness will meet, righteousness and peace will kiss and your Word will proclaim as it did in the beginning... "It is good!" ... and we will respond with a shout... "It is really Good!" And the feast will begin. Come, Lord Jesus, Come. --- Amen
