June 16th - Reflection

Psalm 130 (NRSV)
Prayer for mercy

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplications!

If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with you,
so that you may be revered.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord
more than those who watch for the morning,
more than those who watch for the morning.

O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is great power to redeem.
It is he who will redeem Israel
from all its iniquities.

Reflection
Out of the depths of my hopelessness and despair, I cry out to God. I cry out when I'm sinking. I cry out in my tears to my Savior and God. I cry out, knowing that God knows the pain of my tears and the want in my needs. I cry out to my Father when I'm lost. I cry out to God for rescue. I cry out to God to feel that hug and hear that voice that brings comfort and joy and salvation. I cry out for God's steadfast love. I cry out and am comforted by God's great power to redeem and save...I cry out!

Prayer
Father, hear my crying and save me from myself, sin, death and the devil. I cry out to you. --- Amen
