January 27th - Reflection

1 Peter 3:8-12 (NRSV)
Repay evil with a blessing

Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called that you might inherit a blessing. For
"Those who desire life
and desire to see good days,
let them keep their tongues from evil
and their lips from speaking deceit;
let them turn away from evil and do good;
let them seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

Reflection
God blesses us and unites us so that we gather together with tender hearts that are courageous in humble mind, to share the mind of Christ. This further enables us to experience Christ's love of others and fellow Christians.

Feasting on the mind of Christ we turn to the Word written in the Bible. We turn the Word of the Bible this way and that and examine it by what we know in the Light of Christ. The Old Testament and the New Testament take on active, passionate and life-changing meaning when examined in the Light of Christ.

The Spirit moves us in love for one another to reach out and use the gifts we have been given. And acts of love begin and grow for others. With humble lives we live for Jesus. With open hearts we pray for the weak, the hungry, the sick, and the least, who are the greatest. We live the love of God in joy and thanksgiving.

All at the feast of the mind of Christ that we share in this endless meal of compassion and eternal love. Thanks be to God!

Prayer
As I examine your Word in the Light of Christ and feast on the mind of the Savior; move me to your compassionate, loving act you have in store for me today. --- Amen
