May 15th Reflection by Bill Lynch

Psalm 104:24–34, 35b

O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
Yonder is the sea, great and wide, creeping things innumerable are there, living things both small and great.
There go the ships, and Leviathan that you formed to sport in it.

These all look to you to give them their food in due season;
when you give to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
When you send forth your spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the ground.

May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works—
who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke.

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.

Bless the Lord, O my soul. Praise the Lord!

Reflection
Lord, I pause and wonder at your creation.
I see the ocean which is endless to the horizon.
Waters that move and foam as far as I can see.
You formed all of this with your Word.

Look at the various kinds of life in the sea!
Creatures of every sort and every shape.
Fish large and small live under the water.
You formed all of this with your Word.

Yet look! Everything depends on the food you give.
They live together and are renewed through time.
Oh how the Spirit moves!
You formed all of this with your Word.

Are you, Lord, happy with your creation?
Do we bring delight to you each day?
For I have sinned and disgusted you.
I need your life giving Spirit.

I will praise you all my life.
For you pour out your Spirit upon me.
You grant new life and forgiveness.
I need your life giving Love.

Glory to the Father!
Praise to the Son!
Praise to the Holy Spirit!
You are the Holy One!

Prayer
Lord, you are Creator. You are Creator of flesh and spirit. All life depends on you. So, I come in need. I come in need of your food. I need your food that sustains my flesh and your food that renews my spirit. Send now your Holy Spirit upon me. Give me new life in you. I praise and honor you and you alone, in this place and in this time to all people... today... tomorrow... and forever. --- Amen
