November 20th Reflection - Live Life to the Fullest - by Bill Lynch

Psalm 46
God’s Defence of His City and People
To the leader. Of the Korahites. According to Alamoth. A Song.

God is our refuge and strength,
   a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
   though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
   though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
          Selah

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
   the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved;
   God will help it when the morning dawns.
The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter;
   he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
   the God of Jacob is our refuge.
          Selah

Come, behold the works of the Lord;
   see what desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
   he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear;
   he burns the shields with fire.
‘Be still, and know that I am God!
   I am exalted among the nations,
   I am exalted in the earth.’
The Lord of hosts is with us;
   the God of Jacob is our refuge.
          Selah

Reflection - Live Life to the Fullest
God is our sure help and protection at all times. We can know and depend on God. Although the going gets tough, this only lasts for a while. The here and now will give way to the great glory that God exhibits while he welcomes us into his presence. Sometimes it seems we view all of life from one moment of pain or illness or poverty or loss. But in fact, life viewed from eternity with God takes on a vastly different perspective. These small ills of the day, fade in view of the glory of God from eternity. These pains of today that are huge in our sight, take on a wisp of fog as viewed from the glory of God. When we live in the trust and hope and faith that God has graciously given us through the life, teaching, healing, ministry, suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus, we can live in the assurance that life is much more than what we feel right now in this moment.

So, knowing that we have such a great Ruler, a King, a Savior, we can live our life in the now to the fullest measure possible. We can live life with great freedom even in the midst of pain and suffering and along with those joyous occasions with a passion for the here and now, knowing that the future has been arranged with God. Yes, we are free to live boldly and passionately in love with God and with those who haven't realized this same freedom of life. We can live teaching and telling of the grace of God to those trapped in the sin, the suffering, the pain, the illness in a hopeless state of being. We can live proclaiming the viewpoint of life from eternity that permits living life in the now with hope and love.

All because of our King can we live in the here and now assured that eternity is solved for us with God. What a freedom! What a life! What a King! What a Savior! What a God!

Prayer
Lord, you are King. I need nothing else but to know of your presence with me and with those you give to me. Put words into my mouth that proclaim your glory, power and honor due, that all that you give to me may see you as their King and Savior... today... tomorrow... and forever. --- Amen
