November 25th Reflection - Vision - by Bill Lynch

Isaiah 2:1-5
The word that Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

In days to come
   the mountain of the Lord’s house
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
   and shall be raised above the hills;
all the nations shall stream to it.
   Many peoples shall come and say,
‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
   to the house of the God of Jacob;
that he may teach us his ways
   and that we may walk in his paths.’
For out of Zion shall go forth instruction,
   and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
He shall judge between the nations,
   and shall arbitrate for many peoples;
they shall beat their swords into ploughshares,
   and their spears into pruning-hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
   neither shall they learn war any more.

O house of Jacob,
   come, let us walk
   in the light of the Lord!

Reflection - Vision
It's a vision, not a dream. We have a vision and a hope of God. A vision of something bold and wonderful. A vision where all will be made new and sin and death and pain will be no more.

It's a vision but not a dream.

In a vision we see what will be, but a dream may never come to fruition. A vision is for work to begin in the here and now. A vision propels us towards something in action. Whereas a dream is just a dream. In the dream there is no call to action towards anything. We only react to the dream in curiosity and for the most part fall back to sleep.

This vision of Isaiah is a call to walk. That is to go into motion. We are to walk with the Lord in his light towards the vision. We are called to action, not to reaction and sleep as in a dream. We are called to become disciples of the Lord and walk towards wonderful vision.

Are you ready to walk? Are you ready to act towards that vision? Let's go!

Prayer
Lord, lead me towards the vision you have placed before all people. A vision where we can all join in the walk with you. We can join you right here and right now. For your vision is our call to act... today... tomorrow... and forever. --- Amen
