Jesus speaks of the sign of Jonah
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, "Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you." But he answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so for three days and three nights the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth. The people of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the proclamation of Jonah, and see, something greater than Jonah is here! The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon, and see, something greater than Solomon is here!
Reflection
Signs and awesome revelations are one thing, but the Word made flesh in your very presence is something completely different. When we have Jesus, we don't need signs. When we have Jesus we don't need something else to point us to the kingdom of God. When we have Jesus we are in the kingdom of God. No sign is needed here. We have something far greater than any sign could be.
Open the scriptures and you will see and have revealed to you signs for sure, but something far greater than any sign. Open the scriptures and you will see Jesus revealed page by page, Old Testament and New Testament. You don't need a dream or a sign to be revealed when the Word is revealed in the scriptures so readily available to us this day.
Open the scriptures daily and see Jesus revealed. Live in the kingdom of God daily with Jesus. The kingdom has existed with Jesus through all time and even today for you and for me. No need for signs or dreams or revelations. Jesus is here and now. Thanks be to God!

Lord, open my eyes to your presence in the Word daily...today...tomorrow...and forever. --- Amen
