June 10th - Reflection

Romans 8:14-17 (NRSV)
Led by the Spirit of God

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, "Abba! Father!" it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.

Reflection
We seek to follow Jesus as his disciples. When we believe and follow Jesus we receive the Spirit of God. As children of God in baptism, we are filled with the Spirit and free to boldly follow Jesus. Just like any child we will stumble and fall and sin. But we have a Father that loves us so much that he picks us up and encourages us to go on and boldly continue to follow. We are Children of God and his offspring. We have a big brother in Jesus who shows us the way. We seek to follow Jesus as his disciples and gain a family. Thanks be to God!

Prayer
Abba, Daddy, when I stumble and fall, I need your help. Pick me up. Correct me and show me the way you would have me go...today...tomorrow...and forever. --- Amen
