June 26th - Reflection

2nd Sunday After Pentecost
Matthew 10:40-42 (NRSV)
Welcome Christ in those Christ sends

"Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple -- truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward."

Reflection
The smallest act of kindness is truly significant. A humble believer that acts in kindness and love to another shows what Jesus life was all about. Reaching out with some conversation, a little food, or even time to play, to a person who is struggling to recover from some unfortunate life situation is one response to make in love towards God and each other.

You are an agent of Jesus. As an agent you take on the qualities of Jesus and display those qualities to those you meet. It's a tall order. But through the Word, the gifts of the Spirit and your call from God you can freely go out each day to those God gives to you and act out the love God first showed you in Jesus. Be yourself as you know Jesus. Thanks be to God!

Prayer
Lord, as I step out each day, send your Spirit to guide my words and actions, that I may emulate your love...today...tomorrow...and forever. --- Amen
