John 3:31-36 (NRSV)
The Son and the Father
The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his testimony. Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God is true. He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God's wrath.
Reflection
It's all about Jesus. Everything seems to lead back to Jesus. Reading the Old Testament and the New Testament all seems to point to Jesus. In the Old Testament we see the message pointing towards Jesus. In the New Testament we see the message pointing to Jesus. And we even see the Bible pointing to Jesus throughout time and space. Beginning to end and earthly and spiritual all seems to point to Jesus.
After all the Father loves the Son and has placed all thing in his hands. ALL things. Since it all seems to point to Jesus...believe. Why not? What reason would we have not to believe? If in doubt, read the Old Testament and the New Testament. Experience the gift of the sacraments. Pray and talk about it. But take it all seriously. Your life depends on it.
Prayer
Lord, take my life and point it straight at Jesus. Lead me. Guide me. Call me and show me what you would have me do...today...tomorrow...and forever. I believe! --- Amen
