November 22nd Reflection by Bill Lynch

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
Author: Walter C. Smith (1867)
Tune: ST. DENIO

1 Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, your great name we praise.

2 Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
nor wanting nor wasting, you rule day and night;
your justice like mountains high soaring above,
your clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

3 Life-giving Creator of both great and small,
of all life the maker, the true life of all;
we blossom, then wither like leaves on the tree,
but you are forever, who was and will be.

4 We worship before you, great Father of light,
while angels adore you, all veiling their sight;
our praises we render, O Father, to you,
whom only the splendor of light hides from view.

Hymn
by Bill Lynch

As Daniel dreams of beasts from this earthly sea,
we lift our gaze heav'n ward and see hope in thee.
Your throne is encompassed by order and praise.
We fall on our knees and our eyes we do raise.

The Ancient of days did sit on this throne,
whose garments were white as new fallen snow.
The hair on his head looked like wool bright white.
His throne lit up with blazing fire as light.

Behold in the clouds appeared one as man.
The nations and kingdoms sang to the man.
His kingdom's forever and ever more.
This man is the man we've come to adore.

Prayer
Lord, you can bring some visions that astonish and annoy us. As we wake from dreams and see you in all glory, teach us to love you and your way. Your wisdom is beyond anything we can begin to understand, but your love is so awesome we run to you and take hold of you and proclaim that love to all you give to us. Open our minds and hearts to see the hope that you give in this everlasting life you have given to us this day. All honor, glory and power are yours today... tomorrow... and forever. --- Amen
