March 6th People Reflection

Monday 3/6/3006

Matthew 11.1-19-Let me tell you what’s going on here…

Leviticus 11-12-The priest will make atonement for her and she will be clean.

Proverbs 24-the fields preached me a sermon and I listened

2 Esdras 2.10-14-The tree of life shall give them fragrant perfume, and they shall neither toil not become weary.

Genesis 37.1-11-but his father kept wondering about the dream

Romans 11.33-36-Everything comes from the Lord.

Psalm 119.41-48-Show me your love and save me, LORD, as you have promised.

"You’re on your own this month."- Home communion- my partner, Paul, will be out of town- so I’m on my own. Sometimes I think I’m on my own but that’s not really true. Especially when you think of this case of home communion. There is no way I can be on my own—I have the body and blood of Christ right there with me and when I meet with the Duvall’s – it’s for sure not me and them on our own—I think that’s what Jesus was trying to tell his disciples many years ago- Jesus was on a mission that involved all of us- not on our own- his mission becomes our mission- he becomes part of us – we become one in him- not on our own- Jesus is that priest from the OT that makes atonement for our sins- Jesus is the one that brings the Word – the Logos to life- even in the sermon of fields- animals- sounds- sights- smell- through all of our senses and beyond our senses – God gives a sermon of life to us- he shows me day after day how everything I have comes from him- even in the dreams he gives to me and those past- God’s message in all sorts of ways comes through- just listen- and in all Jesus shows me his love and saves me – "You’re on your own this month." – Nope! I’m for sure not on my own.

Prayer- Jesus, thank you for your constant presence in my life. -- Amen
