May 11th Reflection by Bill Lynch

Rain

As the rain falls from the sky the forest comes alive with a grand noise. A noise as if a huge stream is flowing nearby. Droplets from the sky taking a grand ride from heaven to earth to hit the leaves, the vegetation, the rivers, the life that exists on this earth.

Upon the droplet of waters landing on whatever surface, an announcement is made. A wonderful splash of joy and refreshed life. Take the sound of each droplet and multiply that by perhaps thousands our millions and the earth has come to life.

As the heavens empty of life-giving water another sound from the earth begins. It is animals coming to life. Having graciously kept quiet while the honored droplets of rain nourished the earth, there begins a celebration of joy. A celebration of joy in what God has given to all the earth... life and refreshment.

Next, I begin to notice a slow process of clouds or vapor rising from the earth as if they offer back to God in joy the water that was given to this earth. Another celebration of relationship between the created and the creator.

When I pause to think about it, isn't this what God has done for me? God sent the Son into this world to refresh, renew, save and give us life out of death and decay. In response I sing for joy with all those who love God in a chorus of praise and thanksgiving.

Refreshed by the Son, I come to life and begin to move into the world, renewed and strengthened through Jesus life, death, resurrection and ascension. The Holy Spirit permeates my entire being and the whole Church. We offer the love God has given to God and one another.

The rain has taught me something this morning. The Son is about to shine. Let us rejoice and be glad. Thanks be to God!

Prayer
May your Son bring healing to all the people and the Spirit permeate all of our lives with love for you and one another as we go into this world today to give ourselves to you and to those you give to us... today... tomorrow... and forever.  --- Amen
