February 12th People Reflection

Sunday 2/12/2006

Hebrews 9.1-22-Through the Spirit, Christ offered himself as an unblemished sacrifice, freeing us from all those dead-end efforts to make ourselves respectable, so that we can live all out for God.

Exodus 6.28-8.32-The magicians said to Pharaoh, "This is God’s doing."

Proverbs 2-keep your feet on the tried and true paths

1 Esdras 5.7-46-These are the Judeans who come up out of their sojourn in exile..

Mark 1.40-45-You have the power to make me well, if only you wanted to.

Luke 15.1-7-This man is friendly with sinners.

Psalm 23-You lead me to streams of peaceful water, and you refresh my life.

"Sometimes you have to have enough faith to just keep working at it."- A comment at the Men’s Ministry meeting- about cracking a nut—a rusted nut on a bolt. Using a chisel and hammer and the fear of hitting your knuckles on a miss- you have to hit that chisel full force. Jesus took on the hard work for my sin- he took on the faith – and shows the way—it’s convincing and overwhelming to see even a hint of what God has done for me- "This is God’s doing."—yea—focusing on the head of that chisel and giving it all- keeping my feet on the tried and true paths- returning to where I should always be- the power- the force of the swing is with Jesus- trusting in the force- trusting in the direction- for all people- even the sinners- and in the end – God leads to the water and refreshes my life with his salvation. – "Sometimes you have to have enough faith to just keep working at it."- I’ll keep with you and working for you.

Prayer- Lord—as I work at it- accept my work as a joyful response to the victory you have already won. -- Amen
