October 28th People Reflection

Friday 10/28/2005

2 Thessalonians 2- God our Father loves us. He is kind and has given us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope.

Isaiah 27-28-Only the LORD is strong and powerful!

Psalm 118-tell the LORD how thankful you are, because he is kind and always merciful.

John 14.21-27-But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.

James 3.13-18-Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom.

Psalm 39-And now, O LORD, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.

"Twist the top and pull up, this will expose the lance."--- Aghhh!—A little needle to poke myself- what kind of crap did I get into now- I have to check the blood- but only a teeny tiny hole- can’t even see it a few seconds later- So – it makes me think of Jesus blood- the life in his blood- and the hole- larger holes- intended for pain and death – not healing- but maybe there was healing after all- through Jesus blood God gives us this eternal comfort- this wonderful hope- God shows us in the flesh how strong and powerful he really is- God didn’t have to expose himself to our human flesh- but in his power he showed how wonderful he is- what else can I do but to give thanks for this mercy beyond understanding- to show it in my works of gentleness and wisdom given to my by God through the Sprit- God cares enough that even after Jesus leaves he continues on in and through others in myself and others given to me by God- the Spirit is present in friends and his Word—so we wait- yet we work- but all in a hope that is present in Jesus love for us—"Twist the top and pull up, this will expose the lance."—And that lance, that nail, that spear also exposed the blood – that life giving blood and gift most wonderful in my life of Jesus.

Prayer- Lord, thanks for the blood. -- Amen
