October 3rd and 4th People Reflections

Monday 10/3/2005

Revelation 3-I am the faithful and true witness and the source of God’s creation. Listen to what I say.

Nehemiah 4-But we kept on praying to our God, and we also stationed guards day and night.

Psalm 98-Sing a new song to the LORD!

1 Corinthians 7.25-31-For the present form of this world is passing away

John 3.1-17-How can these things be?

Psalm 38-But it is for you, O LORD, that I wait

"I’ll be home late-tonight I’m going to party."—Something like that- a race car driver who just won the race. I wonder if Jesus thought about a party after creation- it was all good after all – but then we messed it up- so now I must listen to what God has to say- I must realize that he created it all good- and only he can make it good again- I can’t fix it- but I can place all my faith in what he has done- I can wonder in awe as to how and why God has decided to save me- I can respond to my salvation with a new song- and sing that song to God- I can wait for God in all things- for he is God- and this world and life that I have messed up is passing away to a great new life- through my Savior Jesus—"I’ll be home late—tonight I’m going to party."—Now through Jesus I can relate to that.

Prayer- Lord, thank you for giving me reason to party- reason to sing- reason to love you with all I’ve got- for you are God and I’ll wait on you anytime. -- Amen

Revelation 4-After this I saw a door that opened into heaven.

Nehemiah 5.1-7.3-We must honor our God by the way we live

Psalm 99-Only you are God!

1 Corinthians 7.32-40-but to promote good order and unhindered devotion to the Lord

Colossians 3.18-23-Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters.

Psalm 127-Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.

"I’m taking the dog with me."—Taking the dog to show off- proud of this animal- a source of love and a pet to love- one of the things about a puppy is that they are messy and don’t listen- but they are full of life- they are excited and interested in everything they see- you try to bring some order to things by training the puppy how to behave- but it seems to find ways to disobey, destroy or get away with everything- makes me wonder if Paul was trying to tell us something similar about ourselves- look at the Word given to us- see the good ways to live together with each other and try to bring some order to things- so that we aren’t running all over the place out of live- but we are together on things and devoted to Jesus- follow Jesus- focus on Jesus and make sure our actions allow us to focus on him instead of our own disordered lives- Jesus bring order to our lives—only he is God—and God must be our center- and we must center in God- so whatever we do we work as though working for God not ourselves- honor God by our lives- then when we get to that door in heaven- Jesus will be the source of life for us- not my doings- but his doings- and he will invite me in as a friend to play in his kingdom—"I’m taking the dog with me."—And maybe the dog has it right- live life full and somehow learn how to obey the master- and have a blast doing it all.

Prayer- Lord, you give me life- you give me fun- you take me with you wherever you go- teach me to obey and correct me along the way. -- Amen
