April 19th People Reflection

Wednesday 4/19/2006

Acts 7.23-8.1a-he only had eyes for God, whom he was in all his glory with Jesus standing at his side.

Deuteronomy 31-32-GOD is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t worry.

Job 19-Still, I know that God lives…

2 Esdras 11.1a-On the second night I had a dream…

Acts 10.34-43-We were the ones God chose to tell others about him.

Revelation 5.6-10-The Lamb looked as if it had once been killed.

Psalm 150-His deeds are wonderful, too marvelous to describe.

"Pull over at the next rest area and I’ll drive."- A day of driving. The need to switch drivers and give one another a break. I ask God to do the driving in life. But sometimes I grab the wheel from him when I don’t like the way he drives. Then when I take over, I seem to just get lost. Have to pull over to a rest area and let God drive again and get me back on track. God keeps the focus. And Stephen saw Jesus when he died. Stephen knew who had to drive. God drove Stephen right through the tough times – even a stoning with Saul standing by—but with God driving it all works out—just think of how life changed for Saul and the rest of the world. Stephen knew that God lived. Even in his own death, Stephen believed in a living God. Stephen was willing to go and tell others about God because God chose him to do this. Stephen knew that even in his death there was a Lamb that had been killed in his stead and that sin and death have already been defeated. Yes, Jesus deeds are too marvelous to describe and wonderful. Not a dream but a vision of hope and love. "Pull over at the next rest area and I’ll drive." – Here- take the wheel- I’ll go where you go.

Prayer-Lord, send me today in the direction you choose. -- Amen
