Theme of the Day
See and understand

Readings of the Day
Exodus 13:17-15:18-The LORD went in front of them in a pillar of cloud by day, to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light, so that they might travel by day and by night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.
Matthew 21:23-46-Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that produces the fruits of the kingdom.
Psalm 26:1-12-For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in faithfulness to you.
Proverbs 6:16-19-There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him:...feet that hurry to run to evil...
Mark 1:21-28-What is this? A new teaching---with authority!

God's Word of the Day
I will teach you and show you new things. Come and follow Me!

Story of the Day
So here we were, the enemy approaching from behind, more enemy in front of us across the river, and the light incarnate in a humble, poor, servant of a man sitting on a donkey as our leader. The man began to speak to us, telling us to trust him, to leave all that we had to him, and to follow in his ways. This man had a way about him that we couldn't understand. He didn't look as one of authority and power, but his demeanor displayed power greater than all the powers of the universe. And here we were with a challenge to leave it all and trust him and follow him. Then to top it all off, we were told that the battle would be a different kind of battle. He told us that he would die. It really didn't make any sense at all. Some of the group decided to follow. They just simply left all they had and obeyed his command. Others turned and ran backwards toward the enemy. Our band had grown smaller in this.

Then just as we thought the battle with the approaching enemy from behind was about to occur; the man just let the enemy come upon us. There were only words spoken! - No fight-- no battle. He even went to the enemy and told them about a new life that was in store for all. He healed some of their wounds for them and walked by their side. We were wondering if our small band of followers had been betrayed by this man of the light incarnate. But as it turned out; some of the enemy came over to our side and followed him. So now our groups had intermingled and the make up had changed dramatically. Now we had two groups once again. One group of those who left our group and joined the enemy and another group of those who left the enemy and decided to join us to follow this man of the light incarnate. There were followers and there were those who decided to run the other way.

This man spoke of life in death, as our newly formed group approached the river towards the enemy on the other side. We approached the river following him and he walked straight into the river. He was going to drown and so were we. And he did drown! I saw it with my own eyes. He was dead! And yet we were to follow!? Just as we were walking in behind him the river began to glow a bright and beautiful green. It glowed a "new-life" green. An emerald green so wonderful! As I was under the water, surely about to drown, I saw the man open his eyes. I saw light emanate from him that was brighter than any star of the universe. I ran to him under the water and his light touched my life and instead of my own death, I began to glow with his life. And so did all of the others with me. He died, but we lived. He gave his life for us, so that we could pass through this river alive and well. Then as we all came up on the other side of the river, we were met, not by the enemy, but by a heavenly chorus of song singing praises to the man of the light as we all gathered around him in glory.

We were so happy to be with this man of the light, we joined in the singing and praising of all he had done for us. Just then, as we were looking straight at his swollen and drowned body of death, he took on a radiance that made us all humbly bow at his feet. He had given us new life! He had given us eternal life! He gave us a feast of life that all came to partake in. And then the celebration and work began. A new release to work in this kingdom of life forever and ever. Always following the source of the light. Always living in and with the source of the light. Always in union with the source of the life that brought us through the battles, through the woods, through the hard paths and through the river of death and life, to the light beyond the trees! ---Today---Tomorrow---Forever! Thanks be to God!
