August 30th Daily Hymn, Readings, Word, Psalm and Prayer

Hymn of the Day
O Lord of all the living, both banished and restored, compassionate, forgiving, and ever caring Lord, grant now that our transgressing, our faithlessness may cease. Stretch out your hand in blessing, in pardon, and in peace. ("Our father, We Have Wandered" - Text: Kevin Nichols, 1929-2006)

Readings of the Day
John 8.21-47-Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
2 Chronicles 2.17-5.1-He made the veil of violet, purple, crimson and fine linen, and he worked cherubim on it.
Malachi 1.1-2.9-"I have loved you," says the LORD.
Proverbs 25.6-7-Do not claim honor in the presence of the king...

Psalm of the Day
Lord, I'm sick of hearing lies and half-truths.
I'm sick of those who twist and turn things around so it all sounds good to others.
I'm sick of information posted ahead of compassion for the person.
I'm sick of arrogance.
I'm sick of deceit, deception and cover-up.

The veil has been torn.
Your Love is on display.
Sin, lie, deception are in the open.
You forgive. You sacrifice. You Love.
All honor is Yours. You are King.

You have loved us. Even in our sickness.
Thanks be to God!

Prayer of the Day
Lord forgive us for we have sinned. ---Amen
