January 22nd People Reflection

Sunday 1/22/2006

Luke 17-If you grasp and cling to life on your terms, you’ll lose it, but if you let that life go, you’ll get life on God’s terms.

Genesis 29.1-30-he went and single-handedly rolled the stone from the mouth of the well

Psalm 22-He has never let you down, never looked the other way…he has been right there, listening.

Mark 1.14-20-The time has come! God’s kingdom will soon be here. Turn back to God and believe the good news!

Colossians 1.15-23-All things were created by God’s Son, and everything was made for him.

Psalm 34-Keep you eyes on the LORD!

"I’ve been waiting in line for 20 minutes!"—A guy in front of me at Wendy’s in Grove City. I thought 20 minutes! This is Wendy’s for crying out loud! – So I watched for a few minutes and went to Burger King across the street. I didn’t want to deal with the aggravation just for some fast food. That was all stuff on my terms- I decided to move – to go somewhere else- but with God I must give that up- listen to what God wants me to do- go with God’s terms – give up my life to God- and in doing this God gives life. Jacob went to a well with a big stone covering it- but when his wife-to-be came-he was able to move that big stone on his own- a movement of God- but participation by Jacob- God gave the strength but Jacob had to make the move- I like to think about how God set my salvation in place even before the beginning of the world. Jesus created all things and all things were created for Jesus. Therefore I was created for God- so I must realize that my life isn’t mine anyway- my life belongs to God- and God wants me to realize this- to keep my eyes on him- because I was created for him. God wasn’t created for me--- that’s where I fall into sin- when I try to control it all- when I try to tell God what he needs to do for me- it’s not about what he needs to do for me- he has already done that- but it’s about what I do for him because of what he has already done for me—so in this case and in all cases—The time has come! – God’s Kingdom in here and now – and to be fulfilled- so I will believe the good news and turn to God! – "I’ve been waiting in live for 20 minutes!"—I love you Lord- I believe in you- show me what you would like this day—right now or whenever you are ready.

Prayer-Lord, let me hear your voice this day and serve and praise you. -- Amen
