January 6th People Reflection

From Bill - who is in Hickory, NC with Sue and Sarah:

Friday 1/6/2006
Luke 8.1-25-We?re not keeping secrets, we?re telling them.
Genesis 12-So Abram left just as GOD said?.
Psalm 6-Please, GOD, no more yelling?
Matthew 2.1-12-They were thrilled and excited to see the star.
Psalm 105.1-11-Praise the LORD and pray in his name! Tell everyone
what he has done.

?Turn here, it?s in the Gastonia ghetto.??Picking up Sarah?s car at
the bus stop in Gastonia NC. Driving through town I was thinking ?
well this is a nice town. But, boy, where they put the bus stop was
like another world. A run down building literally collapsing in on
itself. Next to the back end of some old factories in the back of some
railroad tracks. It was like going out to the back of AK somewhere.
But there was her car. One of only two or three?and it was just fine.
Her car had sat in this place for about a month. It started and all-
even though I had packed some tools and jumper cables just in case.
God truly blessed this little trip. Seems like there are times in life
where you have to just leave and go. This trip was and is one of them.
You pray about what to do. Then you listen for God- but at some point ?
you just go. You get all worked up over some decision- sometimes
yelling back and forth- sometimes arguing- sometimes seeking advice-
sometimes research- and all the time praying ? but at some point it?s
go- The Wise Men were given the advantage of seeing the start- I like
how the passage reads- they were excited to see the star- makes me
wonder if they finally realized who the real star was- who the source
of light in this dark world is- who the light is that was sent from
God- but they had to just go at some point- this going always produces
a story to tell about an adventure- and when that adventure includes
God ? how can the going be wrong- it may not all work as I expect ?
but knowing that God is with me in the going- makes all the
difference. And knowing this allows me to Praise God and pray in his
name and tell everyone what he has done. ?Turn her, it?s in the
Gastonia ghetto.??Hmmm?Wise men?turn here?you won?t believe where he
was born! Thanks be to God!

Prayer-Lord, Be born in my adventures this day- I?m sure to be amazed
and will run back telling all the secrets. -- Amen
