March 18th Reflection

Friday 3/18/2005

Matthew 18.1-17 - Jesus turn it all around over and over - the disciples were curious to who would be great in heaven - Jesus reaches to a child- you must be like a child to even get into heaven - humble and dependant- it’s not how rich or great you are that matters- humble and dependant on God- and if one of the children wander off - go get em - find them and bring them back.

Numbers 5-6 - That’s a one way law -- it points out the position of women and their rights at that time - then the Nazirite - no alcohol-wine or even grape juice - don’t cut the hair - they are dedicated to God - aren’t we all--and then the blessing of God -- that God will protect us-show mercy and kindness to us and give us peace-- this is nice since God told Moses to have his priests bless the people in this way - a gift from God

Ecclesiastes 5 - Don’t talk before you think or make promises to God without thinking them through. - If you keep thinking about something you will cream about it. - Enjoy eating, drinking and working hard

God gives life even to dry bones- Receive this gift and live for God

It’s about a community of faith-love-forgiveness and God’s grace.

Forgive the sins of those who repent

Philippians 2.5-11 - God became a slave in Jesus- a human - humbled and died -- but Jesus is highly exalted- everyone will praise him and confess that Jesus is God - we will all kneel at Jesus feet

Deuteronomy 6.20-25 - God gave us the Law as a gift- it leads us to realize how much we need Jesus loving salvation - it is four our lasting good - to keep us alive

Psalm 135 - God is good - and God chose me to be his possession- Bless the LORD!

Prayer- Jesus - it’s time to be like a child - to run and play with you - to depend on my Father for all things - to go and do whatever my Father asks of me - the really neat part about it all - I don’t have to go alone - you are with me and you give other kids to be with me too - it’s real easy to do - all we have to do is be humble, depend on God and play - play and do whatever we are called to do - and it changes all the time - we can run and play on the swing set for a while - we can play on the monkey bars - and we will run with all the other kids in this world that you place us with - telling of how fun you have made life- how much life you give by your death and resurrection - and how God cares so much for us that he will always love us and take care of us -- hey! -- I heard this Sunday there was going to be a parade somewhere -- coming into our city -- even a parade coming into each one of our hearts -- and that Jesus was riding the main float - Jesus will march right into each one of our hearts - we better hurry up and tell those kids over there on the teeter totters so they won’t miss out! -- Amen
